A very intelligent passer with a mind for the game that very few can compete with. In his prime, the best faceoff taker in the game. Had a decent mid-close range shot that has been less and less used as time has gone by. Defensive impacts sporadic, season to season. Always considered a strong defender, though that has generally improved with age as he shifted to a more defensive-role rather than puck-heavy. Struggles to handle around players, will often look to pass rather than beat a defender with a move. Exceptional hand-eye, underrated receiving ability. Rates among the best in the league in seasons tracked. One of the few remaining players who would attempt a longer range shot. Positioning can be a bit iffy on occasion, as looks to defend as a forward or jump up as a defender. Overall a strong two-way player, with limited technical ability outside of receiving. A calm presence on and off the ice.
