A throwback defender who plays a straightforward, defense-first game that favors stretch passes over creativity. An active defensive stick in his prime who was a very methodical breakout player. Skating the puck up the ice with limited handling, out-waiting opponents and usually firing the puck himself. Once a decent puck receiver and retriever, these elements slipped away with time. The hand-eye coordination was never among the best, but has always been a capable shot blocker, mostly due to defensive positioning. Formerly reliable to push teams towards strong defensive results, poor puck possession has turned him into more of a stay-at-home shot blocking type. Still capable of launching the puck down the ice and defending, he has been used in a depth capacity for the last handful of seasons. Very slow player, both hands and decision-making, which became more of a hurdle as the game's puck handlers became faster and faster. Still, a fairly okay, if unskilled, veteran player with good hockey sense.
